Welcome to our school!

A. O. Marshall Elementary School is located on the eastside of the city of Joliet, IL.  The school was originally built in 1835, however the building burned down and then was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century.  The school was named after Albert O'Connell Marshall, who grew up to become a Joliet attorney, a circuit judge, Civil War soldier, author, and an educator.  During this same time he also served as president of the Joliet school board for eleven years.

Marshall has approximately 620 students in kindergarten through fifith grade.  This population consists of African American, Asian American, Hispanic, and White students.  There are 30 full time staff members and 4 part-time staff with an office staff of 5. Our Parent Action Committee (PAC) ia very active group that supports the students and staff in sponsoring fundraisers and community projects.

Joliet Public School District 86

A. O. Marshall is part of Joliet Public Schools District 86.  We have 19 elementary buildings and 4 junior highs.  The District is fortunate to have a multitude of programs which include student assistance programs, after school programs and Title I programs.  Partnerships with businesses and other organizations have supported the efforts to add technology to the schools and expand other educational programs.  Companies like Dow Chemical, Unicom, Amoco, Ecolab, and Carerpillar have provided computers, science kits, turors, and other resources.  Local businesses have supported extra-curricular activities, awards programs, atheletics and drug prevention.  The YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Joliet Junior College and the University of St. Francis have provided services and support for teachers and/or students of the District.
